Hannah Ballou

Dr. Ballou holds a PhD in feminist comedy and performance studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.  She has lectured on comedy, identity & performance, feminist performance, live art, movement, commedia dell'Arte, variety, dance, and ensemble theatre devising methods at:

Her approach to PaR has been cited as exemplary. Her PaR (the performances hoo:ha and goo:ga) has been professionally produced by Camden People's Theatre and Komedia, Brighton.  She facilitated the mainstage of Wikimania 2014 at the Barbican Centre, curated events for London Comedy Forum, delivered papers at the International Society for Humor Studies, Performing Gender conference (Belfast), and  has published  various articles in peer-reviewed journals as well as humour in McSweeney's. (See publications page)
